Igaware Linux Small Business Server Case Study – 25 Users

North Tyneside Carers’ Centre is an independent charity supporting people caring for others on an unpaid basis. Until 2008 their computer systems were wholly Microsoft based. They were using a Microsoft 2003 Small Business Server, and a Microsoft Terminal Server which provided staff with remote access to a centralised database system.

In 2008, the Microsoft Small Business Server crashed due to a hardware failure. The server hardware couldn’t be repaired, and because the Small Business Server software was only for the supplied hardware (OEM version), the only option was to purchase and install a completely new server.

Keith Metcalf from North Tyneside Carers’ Centre told us, “We were unable to get the Microsoft Small Business Server repaired, and were without IT services for two weeks. It was a complete nightmare. We decided we would look for a more reliable alternative, which is when we came across the Igaware Linux Small Business Server.”

The Igaware Linux Small Business Server offers a direct upgrade path from Microsoft Small Business Server offering the same benefits of Exchange Email and File Serving, but on a more reliable and secure platform. The Igaware Linux Small Business Server includes Internet and Email Security, and Data Backup options.

Keith added, “We have been using the Igaware Linux Small Business Server for over five years and it has proved to be a far more reliable and cost effective server. We have only ever had one problem when a hard disk went bad.  It only took 5 minutes for an engineer to replace the disk. The support we receive is excellent. “
